CONTACT/FEEDBACK

Adoption

Dogs that do not pass the Department of Defense (DOD) training curriculum and aged/medically unfit dogs that are cleared for transfer out of the DOD may be adoption candidates. Generally, dogs that have served in the field are adopted by their handlers or personnel in the dog’s unit or installation. The adoption program is popular and the waiting list to adopt a dog may be long. Adoptions are handled through the US Air Force’s 341st Training Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base. Once adopted, new owners are personally and financially responsible for all veterinary care and medications for exisiting conditions and those that may occur after adoption.
